Brig. Gen. Bernard Irwin: The fighting doctor

‘Fighting doctor’ U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Bernard Irwin treated patients on the front lines during the Civil War. Today, the hospital named for him, Irwin Army Community Hospital, at Fort Riley, Kansas, honors his memory by upholding the highest standards of care.
